Our preview training continues this week with two new perils to consider and two key pursuits. We also walked through a typical Sunday morning schedule, including unloading and setup.
Perils
This week we noted two challenges to consider in pioneering. First, we must remember the best parts of West Park will not be there. I suppose this point is obvious, but it is worth thinking about. Pioneering a new church means leaving behind many wonderful aspects of West Park. As you pray about joining the Pioneer team, have you considered what you will be leaving behind?
Second, we noted that not every good idea will fly. We know that probably everyone interested in going has several ideas about what ministry or feature they would like to see implemented. But not every idea will soar. Some ideas will need to wait until the right season. Some ideas will fail (and that is part of planting something new). Some ideas will go well, but they may be retired for various reasons. All of this is to say that we must go for God and go for the mission, but we must hold the forms, our ideas, loosely.
Promises
In the audio that follows, we lay out two more key pursuits:
- The Gospel in Everything. Made and transformed.
- Authentic Community. Deep and wide.
We also discuss a typical Sunday morning, as well as the shape children’s and student ministry will take.
