Week 1 – The Church: Its Nature, Marks and Purposes

In our introduction to the third semester of our study on Systematic Theology, we begin our look at the church.

Week 2 – Church Verity, Purity and Unity

During this week’s study, we consider the questions what is a true church, what is a pure church, and what role does unity play.

Week 3 – The Power of the Church

This week we consider the power and authority given by God to the church. Specifically, we consider spiritual warfare, the role of the church and the state, and church discipline.

Week 4 – Church Polity

This week we consider what the Bible has to say about church polity – the way the church is organized/structured/operated. Does it matter? How does the structure reflect our theology?

Week 5 – Means of Grace with the Church

This week we consider various aspects of church life that God has designed to be specific blessings to his children

Week 6 – Baptism

This week we look at the topic of baptism – why we do it, how it is done, how is it a blessing, what are some of the questions around it.

Week 7 – The Lord’s Supper

In this week’s lesson, we look at the Lord’s Supper. We consider four different view points on it throughout history, and how each of these views contrast with the others.

Week 8 – Worship

This week we consider what worship is, how we “do it”, and what its purpose is.

Week 9 – Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Part 1

This week we consider a number of general questions about the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Week 10 – Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Part 2

In the second week focused on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, we transition from considering them generally, to looking at specific gifts and their roles within the church.

Week 11 – Return of Christ: When and How

This week we lay the foundation for the remaining three weeks on the end times. We discuss some of the key areas of agreement, and provide an outline for some of the disagreements.

Week 12 – The Millennium

This week we look at the topic of the millennium. We walk through some of the major positions and consider the implications for our daily walk.

Week 13 – Final Judgment and Eternal Punishment

As we near the end of our study in Systematic Theology, we look at what the Bible teaches about the final judgment and eternal punishment. We consider what areas of commonality most Christians have, and where some areas of disagreement might be.

Week 14 – Heaven

In our last session on Systematic Theology, we consider Heaven and the Final State. We reflect on what Scripture tells us about heaven, and consider the value of “looking forward” to what God has in store for us.
